About Hycosys
Hycosys is a deep-tech engineering company developing advanced hydrogen-capable power and propulsion systems, with a core focus on Micro Gas Turbines (MGTs) and high-speed turbomachinery. We follow a strongly engineering-driven approach grounded in first-principles analysis, high-fidelity simulation, and disciplined experimental validation to mature technologies from early concepts to reliable, deployable hardware.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Materials and Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and industrialization of high-temperature hardware for advanced turbomachinery and MGT systems. The role focuses on material selection, process development, manufacturing qualification, and supplier interfacing, with strong emphasis on metal additive manufacturing and high-temperature joining processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Select and qualify high-temperature superalloys for combustors, turbine components, and structural hardware
- Develop, optimize, and qualify LPBF metal additive manufacturing processes
- Define and support post-processing routes including heat treatment, HIP, machining, and surface finishing
- Develop and qualify laser welding, brazing, laser drilling, and EDM processes
- Act as technical interface with vendors for manufacturing trials and issue resolution
- Collaborate with design, combustion, structural, and systems teams to ensure manufacturability
- Support supplier evaluation, audits, and manufacturing readiness reviews
- Investigate manufacturing defects and material failures through root-cause analysis
- Ensure documentation, traceability, and compliance with quality standards
Must-have Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- 3–5 years of industrial experience in materials and manufacturing for high-temperature applications
- Strong knowledge of nickel-based superalloys (Inconel 625/718, Hastelloy X, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF)
- Exposure to laser welding, brazing, laser drilling, and EDM
- Experience working directly with vendors and manufacturing suppliers
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
Good to Have
- Experience with hot-section components such as combustor liners, turbine wheels, or NGVs
- Exposure to coatings and surface treatments (aluminides, MCrAlY, TBCs)
- Understanding of metallurgical characterization and inspection techniques
- Experience with prototyping, low-volume production, or manufacturing scale-up
- Familiarity with aerospace or power-generation quality and supplier systems
Compensation & Location
