Role Overview
We are seeking a Preliminary Design Engineer to support early-stage development of Micro Gas Turbine (MGT) systems. The role focuses on conceptual and preliminary design activities, including aero-thermal modeling, cycle analysis, and engine architecture definition.
The role works closely with cross-functional teams across compressor, turbine, combustion, bearings, rotordynamics, recuperator, systems engineering, mechanical design, and manufacturing disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute aero-thermal and MGT cycle models for new concepts and variants
- Translate system-level requirements into preliminary engine architectures and targets
- Integrate inputs from component teams into coherent concept-level sizing models
- Perform parametric studies, preliminary sizing, and structured trade-off analyses
- Assess technology capability, maturity, and development risk
- Conduct competitive benchmarking of commercial and emerging MGT platforms
- Execute analyses in line with engineering standards and best practices
- Ensure accurate documentation, traceability, and reporting of technical data
Must-have Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience in gas turbine or turbomachinery preliminary design
- Strong foundation in thermodynamics, cycle analysis, and aero-thermal modeling
- Hands-on experience with NPSS, GasTurb, GSP, GT-Power, or equivalent tools
- Ability to perform structured trade studies and communicate results clearly
Good to Have
- Exposure to aero and industrial turbomachinery architectures
- Experience with early-phase product definition or technology roadmapping
- Understanding of emissions, fuel flexibility, and efficiency-driven design
- Familiarity with system-level integration and TRL-based development processes
