Junior Rotordynamics Engineer

Full-time · Bengaluru, Karnataka · Fresher / 0–2 Years Experience · Early Career Engineering Role

About Hycosys

Hycosys is a deep-tech engineering company developing advanced hydrogen-capable power and propulsion systems, with a core focus on Micro Gas Turbines (MGTs) and high-speed turbomachinery. We follow a strongly engineering-driven approach grounded in first-principles analysis, high-fidelity simulation, and disciplined experimental validation to mature technologies from early concepts to reliable, deployable hardware.

Role Overview

Hycosys is seeking a Junior Rotordynamics Engineer (Fresher / up to 2 years of experience) to support the analysis, modeling, and validation of high-speed rotating assemblies for advanced Micro Gas Turbine (MGT) programs.

The position contributes to the development of robust rotor–bearing systems through analytical modeling, simulation, and experimental correlation within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support rotordynamics analyses including critical speeds, mode shapes, unbalance response, and stability margins
  • Assist in design and assessment of bearing systems (journal, thrust, rolling element, air bearings)
  • Develop rotor dynamic models incorporating bearing stiffness and damping
  • Execute analytical calculations for rotor–bearing interaction and vibration behavior
  • Support FEA for shafts, bearing housings, and structural components
  • Participate in vibration-related trade studies and dynamic response evaluations
  • Assist in experimental validation and vibration data interpretation
  • Contribute to internal engineering tools and calculation methodologies
  • Prepare structured technical documentation per engineering standards
  • Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and systems teams

Must-have Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Fresher or up to 2 years relevant experience (projects, internships, thesis)
  • Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, structural dynamics, and vibration theory
  • Academic exposure to rotordynamics concepts (critical speeds, damping, mode shapes)
  • Understanding of bearing stiffness and damping behavior
  • Familiarity with FEA tools (ANSYS or equivalent)
  • Exposure to laboratory vibration or modal testing
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or equivalent analysis tools
  • Strong analytical ability and technical communication skills

Good to Have

  • Project experience with rotating shafts or bearing systems
  • Introductory understanding of fluid-film bearing theory
  • Exposure to rotordynamics or multi-body simulation software
  • Familiarity with accelerometers or proximity probes
  • Basic exposure to CAD platforms (NX, SOLIDWORKS, Creo)
  • Interest in gas turbines or high-speed turbomachinery

What We Offer

  • Exposure to rotordynamics engineering in a product development environment
  • Opportunity to contribute to real hardware programs
  • Structured technical growth in high-speed rotating machinery
  • A rigorous engineering culture focused on performance and reliability
