Role Overview
Hycosys is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the definition, analysis, and integration of critical subsystem architectures for advanced Micro Gas Turbine (MGT) programs.
The role focuses on system-level performance integration including management of secondary flows, sealing architecture, clearance strategies, and leakage control to achieve engine efficiency, durability, and operability targets across steady-state and transient conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own system-level architecture for secondary flows, leakage management, and clearance control
- Establish and manage leakage and clearance budgets with performance margin allocation
- Develop engine-level models for secondary flow distribution and clearance behavior
- Define rotor–stator clearance strategies considering thermal growth and rotor dynamics
- Lead system-level trade studies balancing efficiency, durability, weight, and cost
- Support selection and integration of sealing technologies
- Collaborate with structural, rotordynamics, turbomachinery, combustion, and manufacturing teams
- Define instrumentation requirements for validation of pressures, temperatures, and leakage
- Correlate analysis with test data and implement corrective actions
- Mitigate system-level risks related to efficiency loss, rub events, or seal degradation
- Support structured requirements allocation and traceability practices
- Maintain rigorous documentation under configuration control standards
Must-have Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline
- 5+ years of industrial experience in gas turbine or turbomachinery systems engineering
- Experience in secondary flow systems, sealing concepts, and clearance management
- Understanding of thermal growth, rotor dynamic motion, and tolerance stack-up effects
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
- Experience performing structured system-level trade studies
- Ability to work across disciplines and drive system-level decisions
- Strong analytical and documentation capability
Good to Have
- Experience with Micro Gas Turbines (MGTs) or small-core gas turbine architectures
- Familiarity with API 617 / API 684 philosophy
- Exposure to reduced-order modeling for system integration
- Experience supporting engine-level validation or endurance programs
- Understanding of manufacturing tolerances and life prediction methodologies
